Funding Secured for the Trail to Bantam!
We a thrilled to share our good news that the Litchfield Community Greenway was awarded its full grant application of $320,000 from the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) Trails & Greenways program to fund the remaining stretch of Phase 4 known as the “Trail to Bantam”, starting at North Shore Road and ending at Stoddard Road. It was announced earlier this week by the Governor that we were among 45 other recipients across the state to receive funding in what proved to be a very competitive process. We are so thankful to the state for their support. Combined with the $241,500 of funding we secured in 2023, which funded the first 3 subsections of Phase 4, the state has provided funding of $561,500 for Phase 4. Combined with continued generosity from our dedicated members, private foundations and private individuals, we are well on our way to funding our 20% match requirement for this bold expansion.
We still need your support! We are doing our very best to proactively address all questions and concerns surrounding this project, so if you have questions please let us know by dropping us an email or asking a board member. We’d also love to see you show your support at our public hearing which is scheduled for June 17 at 7:00pm at the Bantam Town Hall Annex on 80 Doyle Road in Bantam.
We also want to thank YOU! You have helped make this possible via your continued financial and volunteer support and use of the trail. The weather is wonderful, get out there and explore! and when you reach the end at North Shore Road, just imagine how much further you’ll be able to explore.
Here is a link to a new VIDEO of the trail we recently created to give you a sense of the trail starting from 28 Russell Street, including the Phase 5 expansion all the way to North Shore Road! Enjoy!
If you have any questions about any Phase 4 (Trail to Bantam) or Phase 5 (Russell Street), please drop us a note and ask.
